Traditional Chinese Medicine offers a natural and holistic approach to healing. Over 5000 years old, Chinese medicine philosophy includes techniques such as acupuncture, Chinese herbology, Tui Na (Chinese style massage), Cupping & Gua Sha (techniques used to increase circulation), whole food nutrition and tai chi for mind-body harmony.
Qi is the vital energy of all things. It is what Chinese medicine seeks to manipulate to achieve health. When Yin and Yang are out of balance disease results. Qi is directed via acupuncture, nutrition, tui na and meditation (to name a few) to reset the equilibrium.
To restore proper flow of Qi, acupuncture works by inserting very fine needles into acupuncture points. Acupuncture points are found on the acupuncture meridians (a.k.a. channels) that run like freeway systems on the body. Just like freeways, these channels transport vital materials such as blood and brain/nervous system information. When there is a blockage in the channel it’s like there is a traffic accident on the freeway and transport cannot happen effectively. Chinese herbs help to relieve blockage and imbalance. Furthermore, needles are inserted or pressure is induced at specific points to relieve the blockage and restore the proper flow of Qi.
Acupressure points are in the same place as acupuncture points; they are different in that only firm pressure and not a needle is applied to stimulate the point in acupressure. Acupuncture has assisted in the healing of billions of people over the past 5000 years. It can reveal the root of the underlying health issue and stimulate the natural healing abilities of the body. Chinese Medicine has helped eliminate symptoms of a wide range of conditions such as pain, colds, PMS, digestive upset, sinus congestion and more.
